Business Talent Permanent Visa Subclass 132
The Business Talent (Permanent) visa (subclass 132) was a permanent residence visa for high-calibre business owners and venture-backed entrepreneurs to establish or develop a business in Australia; it closed to new applications on 1 July 2021, with pre-closure applications still processed under BIIP rules.
Subclass 132 provided a direct pathway to Australian permanent residency for two cohorts: experienced, high-turnover business owners and entrepreneurs with Australian venture capital backing. Although new applications closed on 1 July 2021 and the broader BIIP closed on 31 July 2024 applications lodged before closure continue to be processed. Some applicants who withdrew on or after 31 July 2024 may be eligible for Visa Application Charge refunds per Home Affairs’ BIIP closure and refunds guidance. Successful applicants could live permanently in Australia, run or grow businesses, include eligible family members, and later consider citizenship if eligible.
