Serco wins contract extension to give Australia migration services
Serco, a provider of security services, said it had received a two-year contract extension from the Australian government to provide onshore immigration detention facilities and detainee services.
The new contract will allow a two-year extension from the December 10 deadline of the existing contract.
It also allowed another extension of up to two years from the new expiration date.
Serco will provide services in Australian states and territories including Christmas Island onshore immigration detention networks.
These would add housing, transport and induction, escort, welfare, education, access control, programs and activities, catering, event management and property and facilities management.
Serco said it would now consult with the government to finalize the terms of the expansion.
