Australian Government. Trying to increase the number of migrants going to regional areas. Regional migrants need more migrants to fill job vacancies and reduce pressure on major cities.

According to the federal government, between 2006 and 2011, 1 in 5 migrants who came to Australia chose to settle in regional areas.

So why is Australia struggling to settle more migrants in regional areas?

Yet another threat to migration to regional areas is exploitative employment experiences. Wage-theft is a major concern of most migrants visiting regional areas. Fair Work Australia recently found that 22% of the 1,300 area businesses were found to be stealing wages from their employees.
