New-Zealand Reopening Soon

The International border between New Zealand and Australia is reopening in five stages for qualified visitors.

Step 1

New Zealanders and some other qualifying visitors from Australia can now go here and self-isolate once they arrive. You will not be required to isolate. This suggests you can reach New Zealand when you meet the following criteria:

  • Are a New Zealand citizen, resident, and otherwise able to enter the country while its border is closed; complete vaccinations criteria; and have spent the preceding 14 days in either Australia or New Zealand.
  • Before visiting New Zealand, you must fill out the New Zealand Travellers Declaration and receive a New Zealand Travellers Pass.
  • Begin your declaration as quickly as possible to ensure that you have enough time to finish it before your trip.
  • When you check-in at the airport and then when you reach New Zealand, you must provide your Traveller Pass to Customs.
  • Complete your traveler declaration at official New Zealand Website

Who is allowed to enter New Zealand during the border closings?

  • New Zealand's border is being reopened.
  • The international border between New Zealand and Australia is reopening in five stages for qualified visitors.
  • There are five phases in the phased method.
  • New Zealanders or other qualifying visitors from Australia can now go here and self-isolate once they arrive.
  • A New Zealand citizen
  • Persons traveling for an urgent purpose or with border restrictions
  • A spouse or dependent child of a New Zealand citizen or resident who is granted a visa depending on their connection

Your eligibility will be examined but if you're an Australian citizen or residency visa holder traveling with a New Zealand citizen or resident partner and wish to attend New Zealand without the need for a visa based on the relationship.

Your children's eligibility will be considered if you are a New Zealand citizen or resident traveling with your dependent children who are Australian citizens and residency visa holders without a visa based on their relationship to you. When traveling, your eligibility might be checked at the airport, and you should have proof of your relationship with you in the event it is questioned. Alternatively, you can file a Request for Travel request in advance.

Step 2

New Zealanders or other qualified travelers from across the world can now cross the border. When you arrive, there is no need to self-isolate. This says you may visit New Zealand without feeling lonely if you

  • Are eligible to cross the border but it is closed, such as if you have a border exception and complete health standards, such as vaccinations and or before tests. https://covid19.govt.nz/
  • A work visa can be applied for.
  • Working holiday schemes https://www.immigration.govt.nz/
  • The border restriction for "other essential workers" has been expanded:

For employment lasting more than six months, you must now earn nearly 1.5 times the monthly income (NZD $84,240 per year or NZD 40.50 per hour). Other important employees earning at least 5 - 10 times the median salary will no longer be required to show that their talents are in short supply in New Zealand. Temporary high-skilled workers earning at least 1.5 times the normal pay can apply to bring their partners or dependent children to New Zealand (the "skills not commonly accessible" condition will no longer apply).

Step 3

The following is a list of government-approved policies and activities.

The border officially opens:

Temporary work or student visa applicants who are still meeting their visa conditions, including those who are currently outside of New Zealand but those who have left and wish to return.

  • In semester 2, up to 5000 foreign students from all over the globe will study. Australian citizens or residents will arrive from all over the world.
  • Meeting your visa's requirements
  • If you're going to New Zealand, make sure you have up-to-date proof that you still fit the requirements of your visa. Consider the following scenario:
  • If you are going on a work visa (if your visa is based on partnership), proof that you still have a job offer; or have proof that you are enrolled in, or will enroll in, the same course at the very same education provider for which your student visa was issued; and have any finances necessary for your stay in New Zealand.

You may not be able to go to New Zealand when your situations change after you were assigned your visa or if you no longer satisfy the criteria of your visa. If that's the case, you must apply for and receive a new visa before traveling.

The boundary opens up to the following:

Current (onshore and offshore) applicants for valid visiting visas are eligible for a visa waiver. If you are presently in New Zealand on a temporary visiting visa, you may leave at any moment and back as long as your visa restrictions permit. If you hold a guardian visa, this also applies to you.

Step 4

Qualified Employer Work Visa (AEWV) applicants will be able to enter our country.

NOTE

The AEWV will primarily focus on jobs that pay more than New Zealand pay scale. More information about this will be provided soon.

Step 5

If the visa is closed or delayed, the border reopens and normal visa processing starts for all types, including tourist and student visas.
